  • Everyone feels sad from time to time, but people with depression experience severe and prolonged feelings of sadness and hopelessness that is a change from the norm
  • One in four women and one in six men will suffer from a depressive episode at some point in their lives
  • It is normal to feel depressed or sad when you experience major disaster or have suffered a severe loss. However, you should see your doctor if you are depressed or feeling down for more than two weeks
  • We are also concerned with the increased social pressures many patients are facing – isolation at home, if we are grieving, or loneliness; even within the family
